TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– A barangay chairman in Cagayan was hurt and one of her companions was killed when unknown gunmen fired at their sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Tuguegarao City on Tuesday late afternoon, August 8.
Reports reaching Superintendent Edward Guzman, city police chief, identified the fatality as certain Wilferio Uclos from Ballesteros, Cagayan. The village chairman was identified as certain Jennifer Pascua Tan of Centro East, also in Ballesteros.
Initial investigations showed the victims were on board their Isuzu MUX along Ugac Highway in Tuguegarao when the suspects fired at the right right of their vehicle.
Tan, who was driving the vehicle, was able to drive the vehicle to a local hospital where Uclos died while being treated.
Police have yet to identify the caliber of the gun used in the shooting.
Guzman said they are still finding out if the Uclos killed had relationship to the Uclos family in drug watchlist in Ballesteros town. Northernforum.net
