A 2.4 magnitude earthquake hit Pamplona, Cagayan at about 10:41 am today, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology. There are no reports of casualties and injuries in the area. There are also no aftershocks and there are no damages to infrastructure.
Experts and Seismologists are baffled by the series of earthquakes shaking Cagayan Valley recently. Last January 11, 2020 at 3:47am, a magnitude 1.5 earthquake was felt in Lasam, Cagayan. As of now the series of official earthquakes recorded are not linked to the recent Taal volcano eruption as well as to if there is a connection to Mount Cagua of Gonzaga, Cagayan, according to PHIVOLCS.
For reference here are the exact coordinates of the quake this morning: 009 km N 25° E of Pamplona (Cagayan) (Philippines) on Monday, 20 January 2020 – 5 hours ago
