TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- On Christmas day, two died while three others were wounded in separate stabbing incidents in drinking sessions in Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, and Cagayan.
Farmer Terio Calipas, 33, was stabbed to death 55-year old Celso Gantas in Sitio Toyongan, Barangay Proper West, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya.
The suspect hacked Calipas’ right arm with a 20-inch long bolo after having a heated argument in a drinking session with neighbors.
Police said Calipas was rushed to the hospital but died losing blood along the way. Gantas was arrested shortly after midnight, December 26.
In Aurora, Isabela, a 44-year old driver also died after his brother in-law stabbed him with a blade.
Police said the victim, Orlando Mata, had a heated argument with Armando Dela Cruz, brother of suspect Carlito Dela Cruz, 28, in a drinking session.
Mata walked out from the house but the suspect, waiting outside, suddenly stabbed the victim on his left chest, police said.
The suspect was immediately pacified as Mata was rushed in a hospital in Cabatuan town where was declared dead on arrival. Dela Cruz is now under Aurora police’s custody.
Meanwhile, farmers Mark Gil Matalang, 30, married, and Celestino Canapi, 26, sustained multiple stab wounds in another incident Barangay Masical, Amulung, Cagayan.
Police said the two only went to see a commotion started by suspect Roland Catuiran who suddenly stabbed the two victims. Amulung police said Catuiran, who was drunk, fled away after the incident.
Victims were rushed to Saint Paul hospital, this city.
In San Fermin, Cauayan City, 44-year old construction worker Mario Corpuz was also hurt after being hacked by Flordelino Molina, 36, during a drinking spree.
Cauayan police said the Molina sat beside Corpuz when he suddenly put his left hand on the shoulder of the victim and suddenly stab the latter with the used of kitchen knife.
Corpuz was rushed by members of rescue 922 at Cauayan District Hospital, police said. Northernforum.net
