TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A 19-year-old man hacked to death his own father in Barangay San Salvador, Echague, Isabela on Tuesday morning, January 16.
Roberto Calungay, 50, died from several stab wounds inflicted by his son, Ever Dave, using a bolo, police said.
Echague police said the two went bird hunting in Sitio Matarang, said barangay, when Ever Dave set one bird free, angering his father.
Police said the older Calungay allegedly hit Ever Dave. A fight then ensued between them, leading to Ever Dave grabbing a bolo in his waist and hacking his father in the head.
After being alerted by a farmer, police reportedly caught Ever Dave while standing over his father’s dead body.
The suspect’s mother later said Ever Dave was suffering from a mental illness. He is set to undergo psychiatric evaluation, police said.
The younger Calungay is now under custody of Echague police for parricide. Northernforum.net
