24 Cagayan Valley police chiefs sacked

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Twenty-four town police chiefs in Cagayan Valley region have been sacked from their positions due to their “unsatisfactory performance” in the illegal drug campaign of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Cagayan Valley Director Police Chief Superintendent Gilbert Sosa said the relief is upon the recommendation of the Regional Evaluation Team (RET).

This is the second wave of “reorganization” of the regional police to strengthen its support for the Duterte administration’s campaign against illegal drugs.

On August, Sosa also ordered the removal of 22 city and town police chiefs.

Sosa said the RET have found the performances of the 24 town chiefs of police “unacceptable.”

“We will continue to assess the performance of our chiefs of police to determine whether they can still hold their respective posts,” Sosa said.
