Construction mogul confirms congressional bid for Cagayan 3rd district

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A local businessman who owns one of the biggest construction companies in the region has confirmed his bid for Cagayan third district representative in the 2019 election.

“Talagang sigurado na,” Joseph “Jojo” Lara told the media in the sidelines of the oath-taking event for new PDP-Laban members in Cagayan on Friday, November 17.

“As far as I am concerned, matagal namang iniisip yan [at] napag-usapan na ‘yan,” Lara said.

Lara further explained that it is the “opportune time” now that incumbent congressman Randolph Ting is in his final third.  He added that he also has the support of party mate President Rodrigo Duterte.

Ting has won overwhelmingly against his opponents for the past congressional in the third district. He has yet to announce who he will field as their congressional bet.

“Dito sa sinusulong natin na gusto natin. Sang-ayon siya, gusto din ni presidente,” he said.

Lara is was the PDP-Laban’s chairman in Cagayan before being replaced by Governor Manuel Mamba who took oath as new chair on Friday.

In 2010, the businessman ran for Tuguegarao City mayor but lost to veteran politician Delfin Ting. Northernforum.net
