3 dead in a day in same barangay in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Three people died in two separate incidences in barangay Dagupan, Tuao, Cagayan.

A 29-year old farmer-businessman tied to illegal drugs was killed by an armed man in barangay Dagupan in Tuao, Cagayan on Tuesday afternoon, August 15.

Tuao Police stated that Julito Matalang,29, was driving his trailer truck on his way home when his way was blocked by a Starex van.

A man wearing a bonnet shot Matalang in his head and torso with a hand gun, reported PO1 Marvin Lagreo, the investigator.

Several witnesses also claimed that the farmer attempted to run away from the suspect but was unsuccessful.

Matalang earlier surrendered to the police in their Oplan Tokhang last year but has reportedly persisted in selling drugs.

Meanwhile, two other farmers were found dead on a grassy field that night on the same barangay. They were identified as Aristeo Tiburcio, 35, and Leonardo Andres, 30, residents of the said barangay.

The police have yet to determine if an accident caused the death of the victims. PO2 Wilson Pascua, the investigator, reported that the motorcycle was found nearby.

Police said they were supposed to buy ingredients for “pulutan” for a drinking session at their friend’s house in barangay Mambacag on Monday evening, August 14, but they did not return. Earlier reports state the two were not included in the area’s drug watch list.

The Northern Forum tried to reach Chief Inspector Raymond Asistores of Tuao Police if the victims had scratches or bruises; and if the motorcycle sustained significant damage which could indicate an accident. He has yet to reply. Northernforum.net
