TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Three cities in Cagayan Valley passed this year’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

City of Ilagan, Cauayan City, and Santiago City were recognized as SGLG passers. Tuguegarao City remains the only city in the region yet to bag the award since SGLG’s launch in 2014.

In the provincial level, Isabela and Quirino retained their spots as the only two provinces who passed SGLG since 2015.

Meanwhile, Cagayan towns Baggao, Buguey, Camalaniugan, Claveria, Gonzaga, and Sanchez Mira passed in the municipal level.

Isabela towns Alicia, Aurora, Delfin Alabano, Divilacan, Echague, Gamu, Luna, Maconacon, San Guillermo, San Mariano, San Mateo, and Tumauini also passed.

Meanwhile, Solano and Villaverde in Nueva Vizcaya; Nagtipunan and Saguday in Quirino; and Ivana, Batanes were also recognized.

SGLG’s assessment areas are good financial housekeeping, disaster preparedness, social protection, business-friendliness and competitiveness, peace and order, environmental management; and tourism, culture, and the arts.

DILG Secretary Ismael ‘Mike’ Sueno earlier said that the Department “scaled up the assessment criteria for SGLG with the inclusion of peace and order as one of the core areas.” Northernforum.net
