TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A 4.9 magnitude quake hit Calayan Island on Wednesday night, January 31.
Philippine Institute for Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the quake occurred at 10:11 PM with epicenter located at 19.28°North, 121.08°East – 040 km South, 89° West of the island town.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 15 kilometers.
Intensity 1 was felt in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte but PHIVOLCS said there were no expected damage and aftershocks.
The quake was the strongest recorded since Sunday, January 28, after a quake with same magnitude hit Surigao Del Sur. Northernforum.net
