47 pieces of illegally logged wood seized in Cagayan

MANILA- Around 47 pieces of sawed wood were seized in Pamplona, Cagayan on September 12.

In a press release, Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO) Rogie Sending said  the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office(PENRO) and the Task Force Lingkod Cagayan (TFLC) Sanchez Mira found the pieces of wood abandoned in Barangay Gatto.

The team led by TFLC Bonifacio Espiritu was able to get information through PENRO Technical Services Division Chief Engineer Nelson Tumaliuan. Authorities believed the wood were logged illegally in the area’s forest.

The team reportedly confiscated 20 pieces of sawed wood with 4x2x12 feet dimension, 20 pieces of log two to three feet in length, and seven pieces of plank with dimensions of 12x10x10 feet.

The confiscated logs were hardwood and premium species.

Sending said the wood were turned over to CENRO Sanchez Mira through Sanchez Mira Police for proper disposition. Northernforum.net
