762 child devp’t workers get honoraria from Cagayan gov’t

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Some 762 child development workers have received their honoraria from the Provincial Government of Cagayan.

In Pagdidinnamagan: Kapehan sa Kapitolyo on Monday, February 12, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) Helen Donato said they have awarded a total of P4,927,000 to day care workers in Cagayan.

Donato said they still have to distribute P365,000 honoraria for 60 child development workers.

The PSWDO said they have awarded honoraria in 27 municipalities and Tuguegarao City, adding Calayan as their next destination.

Day care workers now get P500 per month or P6,000 per year, from a rate of P250 per month, Donato said.

She added that the honoraria from the province only augment what is awarded by municipal governments

The honoraria comes from each barangay’s soft project fund of P200,000 under their P500,000 “No Barangay Left Behind” financial assistance from the provincial government.

GI sheets

Meanwhile in Kapehan, Donato also said the distribution of galvanized iron (GI) sheets to Lawin-struck families is still ongoing.

Donato said 5,644 out of 26,666 GI sheets have been distributed to 1,411 families from 101 barangays.

“[Continuous pa rin] kasi siyempre ang pagtulong hindi lang naman isang year lang o ilang buwan lang para na masuportahan [at] matulungan yung mga pamilya na nasalanta ng bagyo,” Donato said.

The distribution is facilitated by the PSWDO, Task Force Lingkod Cagayan, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Provincial Office for People Empowerment, the Department Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and local officials started distributing since December 2017.

Donato said the list of beneficiaries came from DSWD.

She said they will finish distributing “bayanihan tools” first but added that they can complete GI sheet distribution by March.

Meanwhile, Donato earlier said in a press release they were able to distribute a total of P1,397,500 for medical assistance at the last quarter of 2017. Northernforum.net
