TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Joint forces of the police anti-kidnapping group and the Caloocan and Cauayan police rescued a seven-month old baby allegedly kidnapped by her nanny.
In a report, Senior Inspector Esem Galiza, head of the Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) of Cauayan City police, said the baby, identified as Princess Mejia, was rescued from Josephine Asuncion, 42, and her partner Christopher Vidad, 24.
Vidad and Asuncion were arrested at a house in Barangay Gappal in Cauayan around 8 pm on Sunday, May 21, two days after Asuncion allegedly kidnapped her from their house in Caloocan City.
Asuncion was caught in a CCTV riding a tricycle to the terminal. The family said they could not contact Asuncion since Friday, prompting them to report kidnapping to the police.
Galiza said local officials, after seeing a news about the baby’s kidnapping, have informed authorities of their suspicion when they saw Asuncion buying diapers.
Asuncion denied the kidnapping charges against her saying she plans to return the baby after her visit in Iguig, Cagayan. Northernforum.net
