BAGUIO CITY, PHILIPPINES-A former barangay captain of Allacapan town in Cagayan province was gunned down by unknown assailants early Tuesday morning, May 30, sources told The Northern Forum.
Police confirmed that a man was shot dead on Tuesday but refused to give additional details.
Reliable sources, however, identified the victim as certain Ferdinand Reynoso, former barangay captain of Barangay Dagupan in Allacapan.
A source said Reynoso was buying a pandesal from a mobile vendor when a man who posed as buyer shot him dead.
He was in front of his house when the incident happened.
Reynoso was also a former president of the Association of Barangay Captains in Allacapan and sat as an ex-officio town councilor. Northernforum.net
Editors Note: In an earlier version of this story, we posted that Reynoso was a barangay captain. We apologize for the mistake. Our source earlier told us that he was a barangay captain.
