TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A 53-year old barangay kagawad was killed in a buy-bust operation in Pamplona, Cagayan on Wednesday, August 2.
Pamplona Police reported that the official, Elizar Metrum Ubias from Barangay Curva drew his .38 caliber hand gun revolver and tried to fire at the policeman after realizing he was transacting in a buy-bust.
The policeman managed to parry the hands of Ubias and then drew a 9mm pistol to stop the suspect.
Ubias was brought to the Far North Hospital in Luna, Apayao but was pronounced dead on arrival after being shot in the chest.
Lal-lo’s Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered one cal. 38 revolver, two fired cartridge cases of cal. 38, six fired cartridge of cal. 9mm, and four live ammunition for cal. 38 inserted on a cylinder.
Police also recovered three pieces of small transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.
Pamplona Acting Police Chief reported that Ubias has been a drug surrenderer in Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Tuguegarao City office last year but was still engaging in selling illegal drugs according to Intel operatives. Northernforum.net
