‘Bato’ slams media over bias reporting

MANILA — Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Wednesday scored some “bias” media on the spread of information that the United States State Department halted the purchase of 27,000 assault rifles of the PNP.

In a press conference in Camp Crame, Quezon City, Dela Rosa said that the media were reporting the incidents of neutralizing drug personalities in the campaign against illegal drugs, rather than the benefits that the campaign had generated.

Dela Rosa noted that many Filipinos were saying that they were now feeling more comfortable and safe because the criminals involved in illegal drugs were decreasing, however, these were not reported.

He added that he was addressing his tirade to local media and some international media.

The PNP chief was dismayed over the destruction by some media of the image of the Philippines instead of helping to unite all Filipinos and to once and for all totally eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country and beautify the country’s image. Perfecto Raymundo/PNA
