TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- After hiding for five years, a suspected human trafficker from Abulug, Cagayan was arrested in Bulacan on Wednesday morning, September 20.
Police Senior Inspector Delmar Abuzo, Abulug Chief of Police, told The Northern Forum that Marlon Sales Garcia, 40, was caught in a coordinated operation with Santa Maria Police in Pulong Buhangin in Santa Maria, Bulacan.
Police arrested Garcia by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Francisco Donato of Regional Trial Court Branch 33 in Ballesteros, Cagayan.
Abuzo said they were able to locate the suspect through intelligence operatives and surveillance.
Police said Garcia’s mother was also earlier acquitted of qualified trafficking in persons.
The suspect is also facing qualified estafa charges aside from human trafficking.
Abuzo added that Garcia is in the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency’s (PDEA) drug watch list baseline as a user.
The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges in violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, with no bail recommended. Northernforum.net
