Cagayan quarry tax revenue reaches P55M since 2017

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Provincial Government of Cagayan has reportedly collected a revenue of more than P55 million on quarry tax from January to July 2017, according to the Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office (PNERO).

In a press release from the Cagayan Provincial Information Office (CPIO), Provincial Quarry Division Head Edwin Jesus Buendia Jr. claimed that this was among one of the province’s best revenue from quarry tax.

Buendia also noted that the capitol has collected P7.7 million this July 2017 alone.

He also asserted that there are no black sand mining under the current administration of Governor Manuel Mamba who has previously been critical to such illegal operations.

In relation to Mamba’s opposition to quarrying, an earlier release on July 25 reported of PNERO’s warning to the public about alleged “fixers” who promise to process the permits of interested businessmen for them to easily engage in quarrying.

Buendia claimed that bogus transactors ask victims up to P200,000 in exchange for a permit in a matter of five days.

He assured the public that his team and the “Bantay Quarry Checkers” will be careful in collecting quarry tax. Northernforum.net
