TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The provincial government set a new target for its quarry tax collection for 2018: from P50 million to P56 million.
In a press release, Cagayan provincial information office (CPIO) said the Quarry Division of the Provincial Natural Resources and Environment Office (PNREO) increased by 12% its 2018 target, noting this was due to its “success” last year.
The Cagayan quarry division in 2017 was awarded for having the highest collection among provinces in Cagayan Valley region.
The quarry division, headed by Edwin Jesus Buendia Jr, had collected more than P74 milion last year, a whopping 1000 percent higher than the 2016 collection. It’s highest collection was on March 2017, reporting P10.3-million revenue.
Cagayan’s effort on quarry operations was lauded in the 7th Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) Summit in Santiago City on December 6-7, 2017.
With the success of the quarry divison, Buendia thanked the officers of the Bantay Quarry Checkers for “wholeheartedly” doing their duties in policing quarry operations, the CPIO said.
He added that applicants for quarry operation will not be affected by stricter monitoring, saying they will instead be “more faithful” in abiding the rules and regulations in quarry in operation. Northernforum.net
