DPWH starts construction of P107-M bridge in Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started the construction of the 285-meter Aquib-Dugayong Bridge in Piat town in Cagayan province.

In a press release, DPWH Cagayan Valley regional Director Melanio C. Briosos said the P107.6-million “superstructure” started construction in July and is set to be completed on or before July of next year.

The project involves the construction of a 19 span bridge, measuring up to 130 meter on both ends.It will also include a concrete slope protection, embankment and grouted riprap.

Briosos said the bridge will consist of reinforced concrete deck girder resting on bored pile foundation.

The Aquib-Dugayong Bridge will serve as a vital link of the Pilgirimage Center of Cagayan Valley Piat town to barangays in the towns of Rizal, Sto. Niño and Tuao, making the travel time shorter for motorists.

It will also contribute to the economic activities, Briosos said.

“This is going to be a durable life changing bridge that will benefit all the residents in the area as it will improve accessibility and movement of goods and services,” said Director Briosos.

Cagayan Second District Engineer Lorna Asuten said that the bridge will serve local residents in providing them an enhance road facility to transport farm products to urban areas. Northernforum.net
