DA to ‘strengthen’ agri research and development ’till 2022

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office No. 02 (DA-RFO 02) said they will strengthen agricultural research and development (R&D) in the region starting this year until 2022.

In a press release on Facebook, Regional Technical Director Rose Mary Aquino said strengthening research on rice, corn, cassava, high value crops, and livestock helps in improving the income of farmers.

“Sa dami ng mga problema sa produksiyon ng pagkain, nararapat lang na masolusyonan ang mga ito ng scientific na pamamaraan,” Aquino said in the release.

Managers and researchers of DA-RFO 02 experiment stations and research centers have identified researchable areas which can be conducted in the next five years.

DA said the team has also agreed to submit more proposals for proper funding from regular R&D budget or outsourcing based on the deadline.

This year, researchers have presented around 100 proposals to DA-RFO 02. DA added that this number excludes proposals from institutions, state colleges and universities, and local government units.

Meanwhile, DA said they are expecting for an early Agency In-House Review this year.

Aquino said reviews can be done in the first semester.

“Itaon na rin natin ang pagsasagawa ng techno-forum bawat probinsiya para maging tatlong araw na ang aktibidad. Sa ganitong sistema, mas maipaabot natin ang mga mahahalagang resulta ng ating mga researches sa lalong madaling panahon,” she said in the release. Northernforum.net
