‘Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano’ awardee ‘felt insulted’ for absent board members, vice gov

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– An awardee of the Dangal ng Lahing Cagayano on Thursday, June 29, said he felt “insulted” that majority of the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan did not attend the awarding ceremony.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ronald Guzman said he “knew something was wrong” when he noticed that only three of the 16 board members, including Vice Governor Melvin Vargas Jr, attended the event.

“Out of the 16 board members, only three joined us. This is an insult to us,” Guzman said.  Board Members Ross Resuello, Perla Tumaliuan and Rodrigo De Asis were present in the earlier part of the ceremony. Board Member Karen Turingan arrived later.

Guzman was awarded most outstanding Cagayano for his contributions on education and public service.

He said the board members should have attended to congratulate and to be part of the event that brought the outstanding Cagayanos.

The Sangguaniang Panlalawigan, mainly oppositions, have earned the irk of Governor Manuel Mamba for remanding the Proposed Executive Budget 2017, leaving the provincial government to operate under a re-enacted budget.

Mamba accused the SP of “politicking” for delaying the passage of the budget. Northernforum.net
