TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) in Region 2, in partnership with the Cagayan State University (CSU), will develop high quality export products from available raw materials in the region.
During the “Tipon Tipan sa PIA” on Thursday, DOST Cagayan provincial director Engineer Sylvia Lacambra, said they will develop regional products that are globally competitive.
She said they will also enhance the design and packaging of by-products from bananas, citrus, mangoes, seaweeds, dairy products and livestock to meet the standards of the export market.
“I believe we have a lot of potentials to develop more export quality products,” Lacambra said.
She noted that some of the region’s raw materials are being processed and packaged in other regions and they only need to refine the packaging of their products to stand out in the global market.
Meanwhile, officials of CSU Carig campus said they will support all the research and product development initiated by DOST to boost the region’s economic growth. (PNA)
