DOT launches “Bring Home a Friend” program in SM Center Tuguegarao

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 02 launched its “Bring Home a Friend” program in SM Center Tuguegarao Downtown on Monday, December 18.

The said program aims to make every Filipino an ambassador of the Philippines and bring more tourists to different provinces in the country, SM said in a release.

The said program was first started in 1994 led by then tourism secretary Mina Gabor. It aimed to encourage Filipinos to invite their foreign friends to visit the country, SM said.

To qualify for the program, Filipino sponsors should first register at www.bringhomeafriend.online. The sponsor would then fill out an invitation that would be sent to a friend. After traveling to any part of the country, the invitee should then upload in the website proof of his or her trip, such as a boarding pass.

Winning invitees could get a chance to win prizes, the website states.

The activity was led by DOT Regional Director Virgilio Maguigad and Tuguegarao City Schools Division Superintendent Officer-In-Charge Denizon Domingo.

The launch was also tied with the provincial tourism offices of Cagayan and Isabela, regional offices, and several local government units. Northernforum.net
