‘Drunk’ man falls in backyard hole, drowns in Nueva Vizcaya

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A 21-year old hollow blocks maker was found dead and floating on a water-filled hole in his own backyard in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya.

Solano police believed the victim, Benjamin Acosta Jr, fell into the said hole because of drunkenness, until he drowned.

Acosta had a drinking session with his relatives and friends on Christmas eve and went home at around 11 PM, police said.

It was not until Wednesday, December 27, that his body was found by his seven-year old brother, Lemuel, who was just looking for pellets for his toy gun in their backyard.

The younger Acosta then called their mother, Amelia, who reported the incident, police said.

The hole was said to be 1.5×2 meters wide and four feet deep; and was filled with two feet deep water.

Police said there were also no signs of force and wounds in his body. They also recovered the victim’s mobile phone and black wallet from his waistband.

Further, the victim’s mother revealed that she failed to contact Benjamin’s cellphone number and just thought that he went back on his work. Northernforum.net
