CABARROGUIS, Quirino- President Rodrigo Roa Duterte recently appointed Governor Junie Evangelista Cua as the new Chairman of the Cagayan Valley Regional Development Council (RDC).
RDC is the highest planning and policy-making body in the region. It serves as the counterpart of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board at the sub-national level and is the primary institution that coordinates and sets the direction of all economic and social development efforts in the region.
Cua was sworn into office on March 17, 2017 by, Regional Trial Court- Branch 32 Judge Eufren F. Changale.
The new RDC shall serve for three years which shall coincide with his regular term as elective official.
In a phone patch interview over the province’s owned and managed 92.1 DWQP-FM, Cua said he will initiate programs and projects that support the region’s development especially on the support for agriculture to promote Cagayan Valley’s role as the new “Food Basket of the Philippines.”
Cua likewise vowed to push for measures that will boost the agricultural productivity and the overall economic development of the region.
Prior to his appointment, Gov. Cua who is also the Chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council 2 (RPOC) has been presiding joint meetings of the Regional Development Council meetings and RPOC.
He was also recognized by stakeholders for his guidance to the the RDC thus making it one of the most active Councils in the country. Thelma Bicarme/PIA
