Ex-soldier, student nabbed for indiscriminate firing

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines- A retired Armed Forces of the Philippines soldier and a 19-year old were caught in this city for indiscriminate firing in Barangay Cataggaman Viejo in this city on Wednesday, January 3.

Fernando Andal, 51, and Barry Llanes, 19 and a resident of Makati City, allegedly repeatedly opened fire along Cagayan riverbank in the said barangay, police said.

Further, the gunfire noise could be heard across the river in nearby Enrile town as Chief Inspector Edwin Aragon reportedly called City police chief Superintendent Edward Guzman of the continuous gun burst.

A team led by Guzman proceeded to the referred place and were able to arrest the suspects.

Police were able to net 104 pieces fired cartridges for M16 rifle, 64 pieces live ammunition for M16 rifle, an Elisco M16 Rifle and pieces of magazines.

Later, the confiscated items were inventoried as witnessed by barangay councilmen and media.

The suspects are set to face charges against Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Northernforum.net
