Ilagan City wins most child-friendly award

ILAGAN CITY, Isabela – This city recently emerged as the national winner of the Presidential Award for the Most Child-friendly Component City, besting other cities all over the country.

The award was received by City Mayor Evelyn Diaz, other city officials and representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office in a ceremony held at the Malacanang Palace.

“The award was a proof that our various programs and projects intended for Ilagueno children are yielding positive results,” Diaz said, adding that winning the Presidential Award for the Child-Friendly Component City is one of their highest achievements for children’s rights. T

he mayor also recognized the collective efforts of the city council, city government employees and other sectors for their vital roles in the promotion and protection of children’s welfare and rights.

“Their contributions, big or small, form part of these initiatives and achievements to make our country a better place for our children,” Diaz said.

The Presidential Award is conferred to deserving Local Government Units (LGUs) in recognition of their vital role in their sustained promotion of children’s rights to survival, development protection and participation as well as in ensuring child-friendly governance. PIA
