TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- An alleged drug pusher from Santiago City was shot dead in a buy-bust operation in San Felipe, Ilagan, Isabela on Wednesday morning, May 2.
The suspect was identified as Jayson Yumul, who is listed in Cagayan Valley Police’s Directorate for Intelligence (DI) watch list.
The operation was led by Ilagan Police Intelligence Operatives, Regional Special Operations Group, and Regional Intelligence Division of the Cagayan Valley regional police.
In a report, police said Yumul resisted arrest during the drug bust. Police said when Yumul “sensed” that he was dealing with a police officer, he immediately drew his gun and fired.
The officer’s return fires left the suspect with gunshot wounds that caused his death, police said.
Authorities recovered a colt 1911 caliber 45 pistol loaded with two live ammos, two caliber 45 spent shell, two caliber 9mm spent shell, a coin purse containing eight plastic sachets filled with suspected shabu, and P4,000 buy bust money from the crime scene.
The suspect also had two phones and an iPad mini. Yumul was also using a Suzuki Raider 150 motorcycle without plate number, police said.
Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley Police Regional Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino commended the team for their accomplishment.
