IN PHOTOS: Isabela’s Bambanti Festival dance parade, showdown

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Despite billions of losses agriculture due to recent typhoons and dry spell, Isabela province  celebrated its grand Bambanti (scarecrow) Festival from January 23-30.

Bambanti Festival is celebrated in the province every year to honor the bountiful harvest of the farmers.

Isabela is known as one of the top producers of agricultural products in the country, with Ilagan City as the Corn Capital of the Philippines.

The province was also included in the Top 10 richest provinces based on the annual financial report of the Commission on Audit in 2014.

The festival was celebrated with sports activities, agro-tourism exhibits (showcase of agricultural products and tourist spots), concerts, festival dances and the yearly search for Isabela King and Queen from January 25-30.

This year’s theme is “Isabela para sa Daigdig,” depicting the province as a growing a giant in the country.

Bambanti Festival also marked its 21st  celebration this year.

One of the highlights of the festival is the Bambanti festival parade and dance showdown.
