#JolinaPH maintains strength as it nears Aurora province

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– Tropical Storm Jolina maintained its strength as it nears the Aurora province, moving west-northwest at a speed of 19 kilometers per hour, Friday afternoon, August 25.

In the 2 pm update of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Jolina is now located approximately 145 kilometers southeast of Casiguran, Aurora, retaining maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph. Jolina is expected to make its landfall on Friday evening.

Northern Aurora
Mountain Province
Ilocos Sur
La Union
Nueva Vizcaya.

While these areas are under signal no. 1:

Cagayan including Babuyan group of islands
rest of Aurora
Ilocos Norte
Nueva Ecija
Northern Quezon including Polillo island
Camarines Norte
Camarines Sur

Areas under storm signals are advised to stay alert for possible flashfloods and landslides. Moderate to heavy rains are expected within the 400 kilometer diameter of the tropical storm.

PAGASA advised that sea travel is risky over the seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.

The state weather bureau forecast Jolina to be 20 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur tomorrow, Saturday, August 26.

The tropical storm is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday evening in the Ilocos area. Northernforum.net
