#JolinaPH maintains strength, threatens Aurora

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines– Tropical Storm Jolina has maintained its strength and is expected to make landfall in Aurora between 6-9 PM on Friday night, August 25.

In the  5 PM update of the state weather bureau, Jolina is now located at approximately 110 kilometers southeast of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 80 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 95 kph. It is moving west-northwest at a speed of 19 kph.

The following are under signal no. 2:

Isabela
Kalinga
Aurora
Quirino
Mountain Province
Ifugao
Ilocos Sur
Benguet
Abra
La Union
Nueva Vizcaya.

While these areas are under signal no. 1:

Cagayan including Babuyan group of islands
Apayao
Ilocos Norte
Nueva Ecija
Pangasinan
Northern Quezon including Polillo island
Camarines Norte

These areas are advised to stay alert for possible flashfloods and landslides. Moderate to heavy rains are now expected within the 300 kilometer diameter of the tropical storm, from the previous 400 km coverage.

PAGASA also advised that sea travel is risky over the seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon.

The state weather bureau forecast Jolina to be 65 kilometers west-northwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur in the next 24 hours.

Tropical Storm Jolina is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday evening through the Ilocos area. Northernforum.net
