TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A laborer is now behind bars for “illegally” possessing some high-powered firearm, ammunition, and explosives in Jones, Isabela on Friday morning, December 22.
Police Regional Office 02 (PRO2) in a press release stated that the suspect was John Glen Agustin Geron, 35, from Barangay Uno, the said town.
Combined forces of Isabela Police Provincial Intelligence Branch and the army’s 86th Infantry Battalion implemented a search warrant issued by Echague RTC Branch 24 Presiding Judge Bonifacio Ong.
The team was able to seize from Geron a high explosive 40mm grenade and a cal. 45 loaded pistol with 10 live ammo.
Geron is now in the custody of Jones Police Station and is set to face charges for violating RA 10591 for illegal possession of firearms and RA 9156 illegal possession of explosives.
Meanwhile, Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Robert Quenery commended the team for the successful operation.
In the release, he praised the public’s involvement in providing police with “accurate” information to that resulted in the operation’s success.
“Your valley cops can be as aggressive as we can to ensure public safety, but the participation of the community and cooperation is still very vital for us to be successful,” Quenery added. Northernforum.net
