Man ‘illegally’ using PNP logo, army uniform to solicit nabbed

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A man “illegally” wearing a soldier’s uniform and using a letter with police logo for soliciting money was nabbed in this city on Thursday, December 21.

City police identified the suspect as Nestor Calub Mina, 49, a resident of Nangalisan, Solana, Cagayan.

Police caught Mina in an entrapment operation in a salon following a report that a man wearing an army camouflage jacket was “suspiciously” soliciting cash.

Intelligence operatives also caught Mina soliciting money using a letter with the police’s logo.

Meanwhile, police also arrested a certain Eduardo Caranguian Dayag, 54, and a resident of Barangay Ugac Norte, this city.

Dayag, who identified himself as a branch manager of a cosmetics products store, attempted to mediate for the settlement and release of the suspect. Yet, police arrested Dayag after Mina revealed that he had allegedly conspired in committing the crime.

The suspects were brought to COMPAC Don Domingo for custody.

Republic Act 493 prohibits civilians from wearing, using, manufacturing, and selling soldier uniforms, insignia, medals, and badges prescribed only for military and police.

Meanwhile, Dayag is set to face charges on estafa. Northernforum.net
