TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) is also preparing for the wrath of Tropical Storm Jolina in Northern Luzon.
In a statement on Friday, August 25, NGCP, a power system operator and transmission service provider, said it has implemented the precautionary measures to minimize the impact of Jolina on transmission operations and facilities.
“Preparations included ensuring the reliability of communications equipment, availability of hardware materials and supplies necessary for the repair of damages to facilities, as well as the positioning of line crews in strategic areas, to facilitate immediate restoration work,” NGCP said.
It said the NGCP’s Integrated Disaster Action Plan (IDAP) prescribed the measures ensure the “readiness” of all power transmission facilities on the path of the storm.
The company’s overall Disaster Command Center is also monitoring all power restoration activities, reports, and updates from the Regional Command Centers in North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, whichever is directly affected by the storm. Northernforum.net
