TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- An intelligence officer of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Sto. Tomas town in Isabela was shot dead by unknown assailants.
In a report, Senior Inspector Francisco Dayag, Naguillian town police, said Police Officer 3 John Duarte, chief intelligence officer of Santo Tomas Police Station, died on the spot of gunshot wounds.
Dayag said Duarte was driving his motorcycle along Barangay Palattao in Naguillian when the suspects aboard a black Toyota Innova fired at him.
Duarte was taking up his Junior Leadership Course in Cauayan City and was on his way home to Ilagan City when the incident happened.
Police recovered bullet shells of M16 rifle in the crime scene.
Investigators said the killing might be connected to Duarte’s job as he was in charge of handling illegal drug cases. Northernforum.net
