Rep. Ting awards legislative-based internship program to 600 Cagayan youth

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Third District Representative Randy Ting led the orientation of over 600 Cagayan youth for the Government Internship Program (GIP).

Ting, in his speech during the orientation of GIP grantees of the Second District in F.L. Vargas College Abulug campus, said this is the very first GIP in the country which employs the beneficiaries to the legislative department of the local government units.

The lawmaker, who chairs the House Committee on Labor and Employment, said he worked closely with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) for the project.

Ting said the government is disbursing a total amount of P20 million for the project.

The beneficiaries will receive P30,000 for their 6-month internship.

He said the GIP for legislative was coursed through the Philippine Councilors League (PCL)-Cagayan chapter, which is being also by his sister Tuguegarao City councilor Maila Ting-Que.

With the deployment of youth to municipal councils, Ting said this will be a “learning experience” for them in case they pursue politics, particularly as lawmakers.

“Dahil sa kagustuhan na paglingkuran namin kayo, we were able to request a budget that will cover not only on my district but also for the whole province,” Ting said. Northernforum.net
