TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A local government employee of Santiago City is jailed after being arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calaocan on Thursday, October 5.
In a press release, the Police Regional Office 02 (PRO2) identified the suspect as 46-year old Ireneo “Inyong”Apelo Tolentino.
PRO2 added that Tolentino was a newly identified drug personality and a resident of Purok 2 in the said barangay.
Police reported that the buy-bust operation took place at around 7:15 PM by joint forces of Police Station 2, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 02, City Drug Enforcement Unit, and Santiago City Police Office, led by Intel Section Officer-in-Charge Police Chief Inspector Rafael Cabonitalla.
Police confiscated from the suspect one heat sealed plastic sachet of suspected “shabu” and P500 buy bust money.
Tolentino will face charges for violating the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The suspect will be referred to the City Prosecutor’s Office, PRO2 said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Drug Enforcement and Monitoring Unit reports that more than 2,000 drug pushers and users were put in jail and about 26,000 drug personalities surrendered under “Oplan Tokhang” in Cagayan Valley since the start of Project Double Barrel: Reloaded.
This was lauded by Philippine National Police Chief Police Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa in his visit on Wednesday, October 4, for PRO2’s 116th Police Service Anniversary.
