TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- A 17-year old man and a laborer died after being involved in separate motorcycle-related incidents in Cagayan and Isabela on Saturday night, January 27.
While driving his motorcycle, student Jojo Samut was killed after being hit by a trailer truck in Barangay Maligaya, Echague, Isabela.
Echague police said Samut overtook a vehicle ahead of him. In doing so, he was sideswiped by the approaching trailer truck.
Samut was rushed to Echague District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said the driver of the trailer truck fled to nearby Alicia town after the incident. Police are still trying to identify the suspect.
Meanwhile, Carmelo Calata, 51, also died in a motorcycle-related incident in Barangay Centro 02, Sanchez Mira, Cagayan.
Police said Calata was driving his bike when the suspect, Reynald Inay, 35, in his Honda TMX 125 motorcycle, bumped the victim.
Calata was rushed to Asanias Polyclinic Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect along with two back riders, one of which was a nine year old, sustained bruises and injuries. The three received treatment in the said hospital.
Police said the suspect was under the influence of liquor. Northernforum.net
