TUGUEGARAO CITY, PHILIPPINES- The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 director said that the reconstruction projects of seven Typhoon “Ferdie”-damaged structures in Batanes Province has a total budget of P15.7 million.
Regional Director Melanio C. Briosos also said the construction works were expected to start this month after the completion of the procurement process.
The budget sourced from General Appropriation Act and Calamity fund will be used for the construction and rehabilitation of flood control structures and seawalls in Basco, Mahatao, Ivana, Imnajbu and Charatangan-Taytay-Padanagan in Batanes, prioritizing areas previously hit by typhoons and vulnerable to flooding, Briosos said.
The province of Batanes was battered by “Ferdie” in September last year.
Briosos said the calamity funds would be utilized to immediately respond to the restoration needs of some facilities that were greatly affected by the typhoon and to enable quick response and service delivery to the affected families. PNA
