#WalangPasok: Cagayan gov suspends classes due to Typhoon Ferdie

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba has declared no classes from pre-schools to senior high schools in the province.

In a press statement released by the Cagayan Provincial Information Office on Tuesday, September 13, Mamba said the suspension of classes is a precautionary measure of the wrath of Typhoon Ferdie (Meranti).

“ITO RIN AY UPANG HINDI NA MAGKAROON NG KALITUHAN KAUGNAY SA USAPIN KUNG ANU-ANONG BAYAN ANG SAKOP NG NORTHERN AT REST OF CAGAYAN BATAY SA DEKLARASYON NG PAGASA-DOST,” the statement added.

The tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 3 was raised in Batanes while Northern Cagayan and Babuyan and Calayan Group of Islands were put to Signal. No. 2.

Typhoon Ferdie was last spotted  455 kilometers East of Calayan, Cagayan.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the typhoon has a strength of maximum sustained winds of up to 185 kph near the center, with a gustiness of up to 220 kph.

It is expected to be at the vicinity of Basco, Batanes early Wednesday morning.

Stormy weather will be experienced over Batanes and Northern Cagayan including Babuyan Group of Islands. Rains with gusty winds is expected over Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Ilocos Norte and the rest of Cagayan.  TNF
