RIZAL, Cagayan—17th Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army, Cagayan Police Provincial Office and other concerned agencies on January 22, 2019 conducted a Grand Pulong-pulong.

Cagayan Police Provincial Office, Provincial Director, PSSUPT Ignacio R. Cumigad said that in order to achieve peace in a certain municipality, the community itself must unite and help each other.

“Understanding each other and hearing the problems would resolve the issues regarding the maintenance of peace and order”, he added.

Meanwhile, Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Camilo Saddam, 17th Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army in his speech “We can’t do this alone, this fight against insurgency requires hand in hand with strong bond and trust”.

Saddam also said that the Battalion as per request of the people of Rizal, Cagayan, it will stay and ensure its security against rebels especially in Zinundungan Valley.

The army has an order for setting up a detachment in Zinundungan Valley and now waiting for training directive integrated territorial with the PNP.

Furthermore, Saddam added “definitely we will still augment regular troops at Zinundungan Valley”.

“Peace is a Convergence”

Other concerned agencies presented their mandates and programs to the Grand Pulung-pulong. The Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office 2 (DTI-2) official explained their program on “Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso or P3 which aims to help the people to start their own business.

Also, Dir. Leonardo C. Reynoso, Regional Director, Department of Social Welfare and Development Regional Field Office 2 (DSWD-RFO2) explained the mandate and programs of DSWD that the people of Rizal could get and/or acquire especially the Pantawin Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.

4ps is a conditional cash transfer program of the Philippine government under DSWD.

Furthermore, other agencies who were present presented also their mandates and programs.
