Aparri town police chief survives ambush; suspect killed

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The police chief of Aparri, Cagayan survived an ambush while conduct an anti-illegal drug campaign last week.
Police Chief Inspector Pepito Mendoza, together with his police, just got out the police patrol car when assailants fired at them at Barangay Tallungan in Aparri.
Mendoza was not hurt but the police car suffered damages from the gunshots.
Police identified the suspects as Bryan Tamayo and Jameson Sambolledo, who were both on their drug list.
On the following day on November 13, police launched a manhunt operation against the suspects, which led to the killing of Tamayo and the arrest of Sambolledo.
Police said Tamayo started the firefight when he noticed their presence.
Town police chief Mendoza said they even asked Tamayo to just surrender but he continued to fire
