Arrest of 3 ranking cadres a big blow to CPP-NPA in CV

GAMU, ISABELA –  The 5th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army based at Camp Melchor Dela Cruz here believes that the arrest of three suspected women cadres of the New People’s Army (NPA) operating in the province of Cagayan is a “big blow to the local communist movement.”

Local radio station Bombo Radyo reported on Wednesday (October 9) the arrest of Violeta Ricardo, Cristina Miguel Garcia, and Delilah Padilla by combined police and military operatives in separate checkpoints set up in Cagayan.

In his interview, Major Noriel Tayaban, chief of the Division Public Affairs Office of 5th ID-PA, identified Ricardo as “Ka Issa” who serves as the “Deputy Secretary of the Northern Front Committee” and at the same time the “Regional Finance Committee head of the Komiteng Rehiyon – Cagayan Valley (KR-CV).”

A bounty of 2.4-million pesos has been offered for the arrest of Violeta Ricardo.

Tayaban has identified Cristina Miguel Garcia as “Ka Senyang” who serves as a “staff of the Regional Operation Department of KR-CV.

Delilah Padilla was identified by Tayaban as “Ka Domsay” who serves as “Education Staff of Squad Dos of the Northern Front.” Padilla’s head also carries a P700,000 reward.

The three women will be facing various criminal charges such as murder, frustrated murder, rebellion, robbery with murder, and qualified assault.

Two check points set up early this week in Naddungan, Gattaran town and Leonarda, Tuguegarao City led to the arrest of the alleged top ranking CPP-NPA leaders.

“After a month of surveillance work by combined elements of the PNP and the AFP has finally led to the arrest of three high ranking leaders of the CPP-NPA.  The arrest of the three will bring down the morale of their colleagues. Expect massive surrenders in the coming days,” Tayaban said.
