TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Three persons, including a barangay chairman, were arrested for alleged gunrunning in Cagayan province, authorities said.
Police identified the suspects as certain Rambo Fausto, chairman of Barangay Lakambini in Tuao town, Fausto’s live-in partner Donna Marribay, and a Emerson Domingo.
In a report, the Cagayan Valley police said joint forces of the regional police and the Crime Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) apprehended the suspects in an entrapment operation at the parking lot of Brickstone Mall in Tuguegarao City on Wednesday, December 12.
The suspects were caught after selling three caliber .45 pistols and one caliber .40 pistol to an operative acting as poseur buyer.
Police said the firearms and the suspects has not presented legal papers authorizing them to trade guns.
Also recovered from them were one caliber .40 Bersa pistol, one piece magazine for Bersa pistol, 12 pieces of live ammunition for caliber .40, one black leather holster for caliber .40, three caliber .45 Colt pistols, 4 pieces of magazines for caliber .45, cellphones, a vehicle, a motorbike, and the marked moneys.
The suspect, who are now in the custody of CIDG, are facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Northernforum.net
