CEZA celebrates October fest with first-ever music festival in Sta. Ana

STA. ANA, Cagayan – Expect local bands to out-play each other as the Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (CEZA) will hold its Ist Music Festival-Battle of the Bands, October 19, this year.

A press release from the agency quoted CEZA Administrator Secretary Raul Lambino as saying ‘thousands of visitor will flock to the Free Port Zone for the event, in cooperation with Tanduay Distillers, Incorporated and CEZA locators.’

“The festival, in its first year, is established to promote Cagayan Freeport and the local artists, at the same time build camaraderie in the community and near the zone,”Lambino said.

The Secretary believed it will be a big event for the community and Cagayan Valley.

Leonardo Cruz, Head Technical Assistance and Officer-In-Charge of Cagayan Offices and chair of the event committee, said the event was earlier scheduled last year but the province was hit by a typhoon.

‘This is an opportunity to showcase the talents of our local bands,” he added. The agency has eyed 15 bands to compete.

The music event is part of efforts to promote Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Free Port as an investment hub and a tourist destination in Northern Luzon and to intensify marketing and investment activities. The agency has been into the promotions of various local and international events including pageants, sports and water-based activities.

The report added the event will be opened at six in the evening with a new pyro –performance by invited fire dancers, DJ mixers and flairers. The zone was established by then-Senator Juan Ponce Enrile through Republic Act No. 7922 otherwise known as the Cagayan Special Economic Zone Act of 1995.”

Since its operation in 1998, CEZA has been on one of the top-paying government-owned and controlled corporations not only in the Cagayan Valley region but likewise in the entire country, as earlier by the Bureau of Internal Revenue said. (With CEZA report)
