TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The regional police unit said the observance of Undas in Cagayan Valley was generally peaceful.

In a press release, Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) regional director Chief Superintendent Robert Quenery said apart from the usual petty crime incidents, the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day observance went by without any major crime incidents.

Quenery said tthe peaceful observance is a result of the intensified police visibility and strict implementation of laws in collaboration with local government units (LGUs), municipal health offices, barangay officials, Army, Fire officers, media, local disaster agencies and “other force multipliers.”

“We are very thankful that the action of our people in the community turned positive. This is because of the high level of community awareness. The observance was peaceful and orderly for the most part and no recorded major crimes, except for the usual petty crime reported incidents in some places. This was attributed to the collective effort of the [Philippine National Police (PNP)], LGUs, private volunteers and force multipliers,” Quenery said.

Reports from local police units said 18 bladed weapons (17 bolos and 1 kitchen knife) were confiscated at public cemeteries from October 31- November 1.

The regional director said PRO2 remains on full alert status, instructing all PNP units to remain in their posts to extend assistance to travelers and motorists until Friday, November 3.

Meanwhile, despite of being focused on providing security during Undas, police were also able to score in the campaign on Manhunt Charlie in different places in the region where six wanted persons were arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest for various criminal offenses during the period.
