TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- School divisions of Department of Education (DepEd) Region 02 have begun signing memorandum of agreements (MOA) with new partner agencies and industries for senior high school (SHS) work immersions.

Curriculum Learning Management Division Doctor Octavio Cabasag said the “mass signing” of MOAs are currently being done in the division level.

“We are very lucky in the region because we did not have the MOA signing at the regional level. Instead, sa division kaya sinolusyonan ng mga SDO,” he said in Philippine Information Agency’s Tipon-Tipan on Wednesday, December 20.

Cabasag said the MOA signing is a way to address the lack of partner industries and agencies for senior high work immersions in the region.

He also added that students’ work immersion strengthened DepEd’s partnership with agencies, non-government organizations, non-government associations, and private industries.

“Grade 12 graduates will now be ready for work because of the senior high school subject work immersion and entrepreneurship…Readyng ready ka na to augment your economic status while continuing your college education,” he said.

Meanwhile, PIA Regional Director Purita Licas said the region is “very lucky” to have businesses that are “willing” to cooperate and partner with DepEd.

The regional office will be ready to report SHS gaps, challenges, and solutions by December 28, Cabasag said.

DepEd R02 led by Regional Director Estela Leon-Cariño, Assistant Regional Director Benjamin Paragas, and the different schools division superintendents presented their accomplishments for 2017 during the said program.

“They have to expose themselves on what the concepts learned in the classroom, i-aapply lang nila yun. 50% lang yun because there are guidelines that are strictly followed by the students and partner industries,” he said. Northernforum.net
