TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- The paving of a 3.45-kilometers of farm-to-market road (FMR) in the City of Ilagan, Isabela is set to be completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) this June.

In a press release, DPWH said the said road will “hasten transportation of agricultural products and provide a more comfortable travelling experience to farmers and other motorists” in the capital city.

“The P28.1 million paving of Barangay Lullutan Road is for completion within this month of June as we are on the final phase of construction at 94.8 percent as of May 31,” DPWH Isabela First District Engineer Evelyn Costales said in the release.

Costales added that the concreting project covers local road from Barangay Lullutan, Ilagan up to the municipality of Quirino, Isabela.

“The farm-to-market road project is part of the convergence program between the DPWH and the Department of Agriculture which aims to “increase agricultural productivity and reduce income losses of farmers due to challenges in transportation,” DPWH said in the release.

Meanwhile, DPWH said they also completed another two-kilometer FMR improvement in Barangay San Antonio, Ilagan costing P9.85 million. The paving project covers the San Antonio road from Cabiceria 22 to Cabiceria 10.

DPWH added that these two construction and improvement projects in Ilagan local roads commenced last February 2018 and were funded under the 2018 General Appropriation Act (GAA). Northernforum.net
