TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Department of Social Welfare and Development Cagayan Valley said that there was already 96.07 percent accomplishment report on Social Amelioration Program distribution in the region as of May 23, 2020.
Assistant Regional Director Lucia Alan said that the department also gave a total of P19.1 million cash assistance under its regular program for COVID-19-affected families and P5.7 million under their Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).
Alan also said that for food items distributed the department gave 43,244 family food packs worth P13.2 million pesos to families who were severely affected by the enhanced community quarantine.
Meanwhile, on the report of Philippine Information Agency Region 2, DSWD and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) regional offices have already released a total of P3.47 billion funds for the implementation of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) and other assistance for the families affected by the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) global pandemic.
In addition, DSWD also reported that P3.08 billion fund was already distributed to 561,282 non-Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries of SAP region-wide.
On the part of DOLE, there was a total of P212.64 million fund released to 48,914 beneficiaries of the Tulong Pangkabuhayan for the Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) while P110 million was also released for the COVID-19 Adjustment Measure Program (CAMP) to 22,000 beneficiaries.
“These were the individuals who were affected by the lockdown as an effect of the temporary stop operation of majority of the businesses,” said Evelyn Ramos, regional director of DOLE 2.
DOLE also reported that there was P26.47 million distributed to 2,647 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who were also affected by the pandemic under the AKAP program.
There was also an assistance program for sugarcane farmers dubbed as the Sugar Amelioration Program wherein 556 families were benefited of the P556, 000 total cash grants.
