Farmer, 2 others nabbed in separate Cagayan drug busts

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Three men including a farmer and a tricycle driver were caught in separate buy bust operations in Cagayan province on Sunday, May 20, and Monday, May 21.

Police nabbed tricycle driver Nestor Alviar, 49, of Punta, Aparri town in a drug bust in Barangay Leonarda, this city, at around 10:45 PM on Monday, May 21.

In a report, police said Estrada tried to sell two plastic sachets of suspected shabu to the intelligence operative of Tuguegarao City Police.

Authorities recovered the suspect’s cellphone and motorcycle, and retrieved the P1,000 buy bust money.

Earlier that night, police also arrested Jovanie Estrada, 25, of La Suerte, Amulung West, Cagayan in another drug bust.

On Sunday, May 20, Enrile Police and agents of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 02 caught farmer Jeriel Dasalla, 36, in a buy bust.

The suspect allegedly sold a sachet of shabu to one of the members of the operating team acting as buyers.

Dasalla is resident of Liwan Norte, Enrile, Cagayan, police said.

Police recovered the P500 buy-bust money, a hand grenade, the suspect’s cellphone and motorcycle.

The suspects have been filed charges in violation of Republic Act 9165, regional police information office said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Valley Regional Police Director Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino commended the operating teams on their anti- illegal drugs operation.
